| As a young man, I stayed in St. Croix while on a job assignment 10 years ago (96-97). During that period, I vi
sited many islands in the area , including St. Marrten. I also spent much time reading Barron's, the markets
and Scruba diving, among other fun things. The island is small, yet strikingly beautiful, where one can keep d
riving and get back where you were in no time - there's no need to worry about getting lost. Just keep in your
mind that driving on the left side of the winding road.
I moved on to Chicago in 97, visited many other wonderful places like ports in Alaska, British Colunbia and a
few islands in Hawaii. But I had never returned to Caribbean - until last Thanksgiving when I was dragged on a
mega cruise ship, which I thought would be my destination - not the ports.
Friends pulled me off the ship at St. Marrten, they had no clue of what to do on the island, so I was the driv
er, they were the viewers and, as predictable as it is, they were mostly wowed by that infamous nude beach.
Walking along the prestine seashore alone, that's when I spotted this lonely boat: She is in red, white, and b
lue - the color of America, France and Dutch. Golden sand and white gentle waves, contrast rocks in distance -
what a scene. And I had a borrowed camera in my hands.
The truth is I did not want to be reminded of the great time I had many years ago. I was alone, my life's pure
- the wonderful joy of being alone!
